Do You Hate Fallout 4?

Share it:

It's a lonely place in "I Don't Like Fallout" land. There isn't many people around, but there are plenty of things to do. Most people that I tell about my lack of lust for Fallout 4 are perplexed by my point of view, and a small percentage understand me but still get a lot from the latest Fallout game.

Now, I am not writing this as a hate piece. Far from it really. I intend this to be the complete opposite. If you have never played a Fallout game before, or you just never go into the previous titles, then there's a couple of things I can offer you to help get you on your way.

Firstly, Fallout 4 is a massive open world game which offers very little direction in relation to what you should really do first. It's a bit like life, if you had no parents to raise you and show you the ropes. Fallout 4 treats you like an orphaned bastard child that no one likes.

The first tip is to start off limiting yourself to the top left quadrant of the map. This is where you start off at the beginning of the game and it's where the lower leveled enemies are. You might find that you have a small fighting chance if you come up against some enemies. As soon as you start venturing off further to the right of the map, or heading south, you will start to run into bigger beasties that will either take all of your ammunition, or just take your head. So stay in the upper left area as long as you can and scout that area for ammo and supplies to get you leveled up and ready for a decent fight. I am bout 11 hours in now and I am still trying to get stronger so I can move off. Did I mention this is going to be a long haul?

The next tip is to play with your friends. Yes, I know Fallout 4 is a single player only game, but with the power of the Playstation 4, PC and the Xbox One, you can kick off party chats with your friends. It is very likely that you've got just about everyone on your friends list playing or at least owning Fallout 4 and another percentage of those will probably be series veterans. Spark up a party with them and play along side while they play in their own game. The advantage here is that you can fire thousands of questions about how to do this and that in your game while you are both playing. If they are a genuine Fallout fan they will only be too proud to shower you with their wealth of knowledge of the wastelands and how to survive through it.

Well I hope those tips help out those of you currently waddling down "Struggle Street" in the decimated lands of Boston. I will leave you with one last piece of wisdom. Remember, there is no shame in playing on "very easy". Good luck.
